A Korean rescue operation team of 1-hundred-2 workers arrived at Japan's Fukushima Airport via Narita at around 3 p.m. to help efforts underway in the earthquake-ravaged country.
The rescue unit's departure for Japan was delayed as there were difficulties locating an airport and they had to wait for Tokyo's final approval‚ because they flew there in an Air Force C-130 military aircraft.
The team will conduct search-and-rescue operations in Japan's north-east coastal regions where damage from the quake and tsunami is most severe.
Meanwhile‚ Korea's foreign ministry said that it's ready to send a hundred more rescue workers.
The government is also in talks with Tokyo about delivering food‚ water and fuel aid.
