The free trade agreement between Korea and the European Union may be one step closer to ratification.
Ruling Grand National Party lawmaker Nam Kyung-pil‚ who chairs the trade committee of the National Assembly‚ announced on Thursday that the committee will hold its first plenary meeting in mid-April where they are expected to pass the Korea-EU trade deal.
Nam said although a preliminary agreement along lawmakers would be ideal the issue will be put to vote if necessary.
And to reassure opposition party lawmakers who have expressed concerns over the potential negative effects of the deal‚ a roundtable discussion is scheduled for early April to discuss ways to deal with that possibility.
