A new study has found that Korea's baby boomer generation‚ those people born between 1955 and 1963‚ are more independently minded than their mothers and fathers.
The Seoul Development Institute report‚ which was released Thursday‚ finds that only 11-percent of the baby boomers surveyed said that they expected support from their children after retirement.
When the older generation was asked the same question‚ however‚ up to 30 percent said they will rely on their children's help in their very old age.
The baby boomers also showed a higher degree of self-reliance‚ with more than half of them saying that they hope to be in charge of their lifestyle during retirement rather than relying on government or family support.
