The number of babies born in Korea increased last year‚ rebounding from a declining trend over the last 3 years.
In a report released on Wednesday‚ Statistics Korea says the number of child births in 2010 stood at close to 470-thousand‚ which is approximately 25-thousand more than the previous year.
Officials cite the recovering economy and cultural factors as reasons for more child births since last year was the auspicious year of the white tiger.
Meanwhile‚ the average age of Korean women giving birth to a first child rose to over 30 for the first time.
