In the US the wealthy are becoming increasingly conspicuous in their consumer spending hinting that the US economy may be emerging from the global recession.
According to a report released by USA Today on Tuesday.. sales of luxury brands jumped 29 percent in 2010‚ while sales of holiday houses in premier gateway destinations such as Cape Cod spiked by up to 14 percent.
Meanwhile‚ 40 percent of respondents with a discretionary income of over 100-thousand US dollars said they felt satisfied when others recognize their wealth.
The figure represents a ten percent increase from the results of a previous poll conducted in the first quarter of 2009.
The richest five percent of Americans account for roughly 37 percent of all consumer spending in the US.
