And taking the cue from Tunisia and Egypt the anti-government sentiment has quickly spread to neighboring countries like Algeria and Yemen.
Media reports say thousands of demonstrators walked the streets of the Algerian capital Algiers on Saturday‚ demanding that President Abdelaziz Bouteflika end his 12-year reign.
But as public protests are banned in the North African country‚ nearly 30-thousand riot police were mobilized across the city‚ with hundreds of people reportedly taken into custody.
Over in Yemen‚ a skirmish between anti-government protesters and thousands of armed police and supporters of President Ali Abdullah Saleh was observed in the capital Sanaa without casualties being reported.
