The government is scrambling to increase the supply of milk products since the massive culling of dairy cows due to foot-and-mouth disease has created shortfalls.
The agriculture ministry plans to raise milk production quotas for each farm by four to five percent over the next two years as well as reduce tariffs on imported milk powder.
Also‚ milk products will be imported ahead of schedule this year to counter inventory shortage.
