The Korean government is planning to modify tax rates on diesel and Liquefied Petroleum Gas‚ or LPG.
The Ministry of Knowledge Economy said on Monday that they are planning to increase the tax rate on Liquefied Petroleum Gas and lower the tax rate applied on diesel to overcome their price differences.
Currently‚ the tax rate on diesel is set to be 1.7 times higher than that on LPG.
The ministry added that they are also looking into easing regulations on major retail outlets when opening up gas stations which in effect will bring down the gas prices at large.
