요약정보
President Lee Myung-bak travelled to South Jeolla Province Friday to visit the Naro Space Center where the nation's scientists attempted Tuesday to launch a satellite using Korea's first domestically-developed space rocket.
There President Lee received briefings on the space center's assessment of the mission that failed to place the satellite in the proper orbit.
The president also listened to the officials' renewed plans to launch a new satellite in the spring of next year.
[Interview : President Lee Myung-bak] "The wise achieve a greater success going through failure but the foolish only become frustrated with failure."
And while calling the attempt a 'half success' the President urged officials there for a thorough analysis that would lead to future success.
While the science ministry is beginning to investigate the cause of the launch failure separately from a joint probe with the Russian developer of the first stage rocket for the mission President Lee expressed his appreciation to the Russians.
While visiting South Jeolla Province President Lee stopped by the city of Yeosu where preparations are on-going for Expo 2012.
[Interview : President Lee Myung-bak] "The Expo will help change perceptions in Korea about nature and getting people to visit will have an impact too. We'll be able to reap more benefits than just from the Expo."
Meeting with officials working on the global exposition he said that the event must succeed to provide a chance for South Jeolla Province and the country to leap forward.
[Reporter : kimbumsoo@arirang.co.kr
