Kim Yu-na has made another world record in figure skating history.
Korea's figure skating sensation scored 131.5-9 in ladies' free skating to grab the winning title at the World Figure Skating Championships Saturday Los Angeles time.
And better yet‚ she came out of the competition with a combined score of 207.71‚ becoming the first female single skater to break a total score of 200.
The record Kim broke was that of Japan's Mao Asada who was defending last year's championship and had previously set the record at 199.52. But this time Asada placed fourth after failing on her second triple axel attempt. Not only did Kim manage to successfully carry out most of her jumps including the triple flip-triple toe loop combination‚ she received a standing ovation from the crowd after showing off her artistic talents. Coming in second was Joannie Rochette from Canada followed by Miki Ando from Japan. The latest triumph comes a day after Kim's outstanding short program performance in which she received the highest score of 76.12 in the ladies' singles.
Basking in her glory after winning the championship in her third attempt at the biggest international skating competition‚ the 18-year-old figure skating queen couldn't hold back her tears during the medal ceremony.
