A piece of space debris passed close to the International Space Station Thursday alarming astronauts who sought refuge in an escape capsule.
No one was hurt.
The US's National Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA said that it spotted a piece of an old commercial satellite approaching the ISS.
But it was too late for flight controllers to move the station out of the object's way as it was travelling at more than 32-thousand kilometers per hour.
The Russian and American astronauts aboard evacuated the main part of the station and spent about 10-minutes in a Soyuz escape capsule parked at the ISS.
The object missed and the astronauts returned safely to the space station.
