It looks like Korea could play a significant role in Jordan's development.
This‚ as Jordan's King Abdullah the Second has asked President Lee Myung-bak to help Korean companies participate in the Arab country's infrastructure projects. They include plans to construct a nuclear power plant and to build a waterway linking the Red Sea and the Dead Sea.
Jordan is planning to supply a third of its electricity needs through nuclear power generation by the year 2040. The Arab state is also pursuing a 10-year five-billion-US-dollar project to save the Dead Sea by supplying it with water from the Red Sea.
President Lee has promised to support Korean firms in taking part in the ventures.
Following their talks the leaders looked on as their officials signed agreements on the two projects.
Meanwhile‚ investment and commerce promotion agencies from the two countries have reached separate MOUs on promoting cooperation.
King Abdullah is on a three-day state visit here and is scheduled to attend an investment forum for Jordan and speak to Korean business leaders on Tuesday.
