Lee has stressed during his campaign however‚ that there's nothing miraculous about his life that he's achieved what he has through hard work and is now ready to apply his passion to lifting up Korea's economy.

The former Seoul mayor has shown before that he has the ideas and the guts to push through big plans even the controversial ones like a multibillion-dollar project to restore a paved-over stream running through the heart of the capital.
One of the key proposals in Lee's campaign this year is a 500 kilometer inland canal running the entire length of the country.
His construction-driven mindset can be traced back to his 27 years with Hyundai‚ where he shot up the ranks to become its longest-serving CEO.
Entering politics in 1992 on the conservative ticket Lee was elected a member of the National Assembly in 1996‚ but he left the post two years later after being indicted for breaking campaign finance rules.
He's been linked to other breaches of the law.
Most recently‚ the prosecution cleared him of any involvement in a stock fraud case with a Korean-American businessman.
Lee's approval ratings have risen since then‚ but he's been urging his supporters that he needs to win by a large margin.
