Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said his country is preparing to apply for E-U membership by the year 20-20
To in order to get there‚ Poroshenko said Thursday‚ that the government was drawing up a plan that would include a range of social and economic reforms.
The move would follow the former Soviet republic's landmark agreement‚ which was ratified last Tuesday.
However‚ analysts say the goal is unrealistically as it could take even decades for Kiev to even be considered as a viable member.
Poroshenko added a ceasefire struck with pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine was still holding and that the peace would be sustained ahead of local elections in the rebel-held areas‚ next month. Reporter : paulyi@arirang.co.kr
