요약정보
[Reporter : ] Baby boom inevitable in China and many other cultures that pay close attention to the Chinese zodiac signs.
The Dragon symbolizes characteristics of dominance and ambition.
They live by their own rules‚ driven‚ unafraid of challenges‚ and are willing to take risks.
Monkey- Curious‚ mischievious‚playful‚ intellectual‚ creative.
Loves challenges and observing people.
Horses - Extremely animated‚ usually the center of attention as they love to keep the crowd happy and entertained.
[Reporter : ] Snake-intelligent‚ graceful and materialistic.
Extremely analytical and don’t jump into situations or conclusions.
Sometimes scheme and plot to get what they want.
Passionate and they do things in grand fashion.
Unfortunately‚ this passion and enthusiasm can leave Dragons feeling exhausted and interestingly‚ unfulfilled.
The year 2012 guarantees a grand spike in the number of babies born in China.
The country is not called the dragon of asia for no reason.
Everyone wants Dragon babies.
Many of its people still believe in the how zodiac animal signs can influence a person's characteristics.
The dragon is the most powerful and influential among the 12 animals with many successful individuals having been born in the year of the dragon.
And this year being the year of the dragon‚ more than 180-thousand mothers are expecting little dragons.
Shanghai's maternal and child care services are experiencing are extremely crowded with pregnant ladies and their families.
The exact same phenomenon occurred 11 years ago‚ when mothers wanted to their babies to be millennium dragons.
Doctors caution though that birth peak will strain hospital resourcesas well as difficulties in schooling and employment.
Nearly 9-thousand doctors from government hospitals in Rajasthan‚ India went on strike and refused to work for 11 days.
11 days might not seem like a long time for strikes compared to many other grand-scale demonstrations.
But when those who refuse to provide their services are doctors it can seem like the longest days of their lives for patients and their relatives.
On the last day of 2011‚ the Indian Government responded by revoking the controversial Rajasthan Essential Services Management Act or RESMA and promised to release arrested doctors‚ putting an end to the strikes.
Just in time for New Years there were plenty of reasons for both doctors and patients to cheer and celebrate.
Doctors stood their ground at a grave cost though.
More than 54 patients died over the past week as no medical help was available during the demonstrations.
2011 has been a year full of protests all around the world‚ either to fight against political or economic injustice.
Demonstrations are meaningful and constructive‚ until they turn violent and ugly.
And now‚ riot police and protestershave another way to deal with such difficult situations.
A study by Professor Paul Torrens can help predict how a typical crowd of protesters might behave in a typical urban environment.
His simulations can also help protesters can also help protesters find the most efficient and safe ways to run away from perceived threats.
All in all‚ the scenarios will have more real world applications as the software is constantly upgraded.
I'll be back with more tomorrow‚ until then‚ it's back to my favorite Horse and Monkey duo.
