That is why they carefully select the good ones and filter out the bad in preparation for the annual apricot festival.
The festival is a wonderful venue for farmers to display their proud produce like apricots and honey.
The festival grew from a bazaar to a larger market‚ with local art troupes and various companies also participating in it.
Artists put up their paintings‚ glass objects‚ mosaics and more for sale.
The 3-day festival is fast becoming an inseparable part of Palestinian farmers and other professionals living in and around the region.

A old age home in Himachal Pradesh‚ India has been gaining much attention for their dedication to a specific group of senior citizens.
This particular home provides a ray of hope for socially abandoned elderly.
The reasons for them being abandoned are various.
Some were mentally and physically challenged early‚ others were childless.
Basic amenities are provided of course and the staff of the home makes sure that the residents are happy.
Television and radio sets provide entertainment‚ while various indoor games are arranged to make sure the old folks have a good time.
This small‚ but significant facility for geriatric care has served its purpose for more than 40 years now.
And with the support of the welfare department of the state government‚ it will continue to do so.

It was a day of celebration for all mermaid fans of Coney Island‚ New York.
The 2011 Mermaid Parade was held on June 18.
The streets were simply flooded with participants celebrating the start of summer with the first of the season's many exciting events.
From Marilyn Monroe types to toddlers with fins and flippers the festive atmosphere reached its aquatic peak.
Most mermaid costumes were created using vivid color‚ glitter and fishnet stockings. And mermaids weren't the only sea creatures at the parade.
Neptunes and an array of sea creatures as well as ocean-themed bicycles also formed the festive crowd.
The event first started in 1983 and it is considered the Mardi Gras of Coney Island.
The highlight of the parade is the Mermaid Parade Ball‚ where participants are treated to some exciting performances.
