Along with his wife Victoria‚ they are arguably most recognized British celebrity couple.
And with the London Olympics just around the corner‚ David Beckham is busier than ever.
The official Olympic Torchbearer nomination event was held recently at London's East Wintergarden.
This campaign will involve the selection of people to carry the Olympic Flame as it travels the UK in 2012.
To kick-start the event‚ soccer superstar David Beckham announced Gabrielle Roseje as the first nominee for the role of Olympic Flame bearer.
She was nominated for her efforts in using sport to help young‚ less fortunate people.
Also in attendance was Zara Phillips‚ the eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II.
Around 8-thousand Olympic Torchbearers for the global sporting event will be selected.
And Samsung as an official Olympic Torch Relay presenting partner‚ will select a large number of these runners.
Retro car lovers from Ukraine and Poland gathered for a special car race and exhibition.
The event was held to pay homage to the Leopolis Grand Prix‚ an international race from the early 1930s which laid the foundations for Formula 1 of the 1950s.
The races were indefinitely suspended after 1934‚ due to economic and political changes in the region during and after WWII.
The Lviv Triangle‚ a circuit made through the streets of the Ukranian city was once considered the most difficult to tackle‚ with its sharp changes of altitude.
The circuit was recreated to match what it used to be in the good old days.
The sons who only heard about the classic race through their fathers who conquered these circuits were eager to prove their racing prowess.
A big part of what made the event special was the enthusiasm of the fans.
Legend has it that some 80 years ago‚ spectators would rush to help the racers lift the car‚ when there was a flat tire.
Over in the Estonian town of Rakvere‚ around 2-thousand punk rock choir singers gathered for a special fusion performance.
It is a clear change from the punk movement from the 1970s‚ as the performance combines punk lyrics with classic conducting.
The lyrics had to stand out as they should form the backbone of a protest.
So instead of patriotic folk songs‚ the choirs sang various songs by groups like Sex Pistols and Joy Division.
Yet‚ participants wore traditional choir attire instead of going for the anarchic punk look.
Professional choirs from all over the country took part in the event.
The atmosphere was very free and anarchic‚ with people drinking beer‚ smoking and dancing on stage at will.
