[Reporter : ] Lehman Brothers and AIG.
Two names that have become synonymous with financial meltdown and almost triggered a second Great Depression
It was only a matter of time before a movie was made to tell the story behind these historic events.
HBO beat everyone to it.
As producer Andrew Ross Sorkin created a film based on the book he wrote about the incredible incident.
The book has done a great job of peeling back the onion.
The movie really lets people see how bad it was on the other side of that cliff.
Titled "Too Big To Fail" the film sheds light on how fragile the situation back in 2008 was‚ and also how a few key decisions by a handful of people helped prevent a second Great Depression.
William Hurt stars as the former Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson to bring viewers on a journey to take an inside look at how things snow-balled and how the situation was handled.
Too Big to Fail premieres on HBO on May 23rd.
In 3 hospitals bed rails‚ drip racks and even pens used by the staff are wrapped in copper.
They were all part of an important research on finding out which metal is the safest to be used in hospitals.
Clinical trials at the Dr. Salvador Allende Hospital in Chile have revealed that copper surfaces are far more effective at killing bacteria than conventional stainless steel.
Copper ions penetrate bacteria and bind to their enzymes and proteins‚ disabling them‚ while stainless steel which has been the metal of choice for hospital surfaces does not.
This discovery is great news for Chile‚ as the country is the world's top copper producer.
Chile's economy has been built on its copper deposits and now they've found another line of products to provide raw materials for.
Various efforts are being made in Ethiopia in order to improve healthcare for the local women.
More health workers dedicated to this cause are being trained‚ in order to help pregnant women deliver babies.
None of them are doctors‚ but their training is designed to provide necessary assistance to mothers-to-be in places that are beyond the reach of other medical means.
Today‚ more than 30 thousand rural practitioners have been trained to give advice on contraception‚ immunization‚ nutrition and childbirth.
Over 85 percent of the population live in rural areas with limited or no access to medical services and the country has one of the worst maternal and infant mortality.
The ambitious new health program is bound to provide a glimmer of hope to Ethiopian.
