The Pahlavi Imperial Family of Iran lost its beloved son on Tuesday.
44-year-old Alireza Pahlavi‚ the youngest son of the late Shah of Iran‚ Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi‚ died of an apparent suicide at his home in Boston.
His older brother Reza Pahlavi wrote on his website Wednesday that his younger brother struggled for years to overcome his sorrow after he lost his father as a teen and his sister nearly 10 years ago.

Alireza's father was forced into exile during the Islamic Revolution in 1979 and died of cancer in Egypt a year later.
Since then the family moved from country to country before settling in the United States.
Reports also say that Alireza suffered from deep depression ever since his sister Leila Pahlavi was found dead in a London hotel room in 2001 after overdosing on barbiturates.
The young prince apparently never recovered only to be found dead himself at the age of 44.

Alireza never married and studied music as an undergraduate at Princeton University as well as ancient Iranian studies as a graduate student at Columbia University.
He is survived by his mother‚ Farah Pahlavi‚ his older brother Reza and his sister Farahnaz.
