In 1999‚ hair salons across Japan collaborated to start a grand-scale hair show.
It provided great learning opportunities for those participating in it as well as those in the audience.
12 years later‚ the annual hair show titled "Splash International" is one of the largest hair shows in Asia‚ with top salons and guests from various Asian nations participating in it.
Elaborate costumes‚ stage setting‚ live music and beautiful models strutting down the stage in amazing hair coloring and styles inspired many colleagues and competitors of the hair stylists in attendance.
It was a chance for creative minds to hold nothing back and truly experiment with futuristic styles‚ twists‚ curls and colors.
Hair coloring‚ which was a dying trend last year‚ is back in full swing in 2010.
Many of the participating hair stylists eagerly experimented with bold and bright colors.
Adding an exlamation mark to the already exciting event was a group of drag queens in bright hair color and dresses‚ strutting their stuff on the runway.
Over in Egypt‚ owners of the famed Harley Davidson bikes‚ also known as "Harley Owning Group" or HOGS took to the country's highway to ride off into the desert horizons together.
This is the first such international rally held in Egypt‚ with over 160 riders from Saudi‚ Dubai‚ Jordan‚ Lebanon and Syria joining in.
A 60 kilometer route along the streets of Sharm El-Sheikh was cleared by the police exclusively for the rally.
The Harley Davidson bikes were first introduced to Egypt around 15 years ago‚ and it is still today‚ a luxury few can afford.
The motorcycle itself has a steep price tag‚ but the 48 percent import duty makes it even more challenging for one to save up for a Harley.
Ironically majority of the population in Egypt lives in poverty‚ and few would have been inspired by the bikers and their ultra-expensive rides.
Two researchers in Germany have successfully created a program that simulates black hole activities.
Thomas Mueller and Daniel Weiskopf of the Visual Effects Institute of Stuttgart University used data from around 118 thousand stars that are mapped by the European Space Agency‚ in order to create their simulation program.
A black hole is created when a star expires and results in extreme gravitational pull.
Scientists have estimated that there are over 10 million black holes in the cosmos‚ and their fascination with black holes has been growing ever since.
Using the simulator‚ viewers can witness the effects of the black hole.
In this enhanced interactive experience‚ one can see how stars' positions are distorted and how their colors change.
The current application is designed for educational purposes‚ but the German duo is working on a new program that wil allow users to experience moving faster than the speed of light.
