[Reporter : w:jcho] In northern Punjab‚ wildlife authorities plan to establish a rehabilitation center‚ for the estimated 10‚000 monkeys in a wildlife sanctuary of Patiala city. The increasing deterioration of their natural habitat‚ authorities say‚ have led them looking for food out in the cities.
Additionally‚ authorities have geared up to set-up an enclosure within the santuary for other injured or abandoned monkeys.
RK Luna‚ the chief wildlife warden in Punjab‚ says the plan was initiated in order to help prevent‚ orphaned monkeys that are at times abandoned and left behind by their mothers.
The rehabilitation center would also serve as a safety haven‚ for those monkeys wandering into the cities and creating chaos‚ becoming a nuisance for some residents.
Authorities have repeatedly noted that the massive de-forestation and people enroaching on the natural habitats‚ have forced the monkeys to move out of their natural environment.
Therefore‚ authorities hope to implement the center's proposal sometime soon next time.
After what seemed like a plesant trip aboard the Sapphire Princess cruise shipit ended with a worrisome surprise.
A 20 meter long whale was discovered impaled to the bow of the vessel as the ship was getting ready to enter the port.
Divers were called in to asist in rescusing the implaed whale‚ where they tied a rope attached to a smaller boat‚ around the whale to help remove it from the ship's bow.
A spokesman for the cruise line was not able to confirm when or how the whale had been attached to the ship.
Craig Delahunt‚ a veteran sailor and owner of Tymac Launch Service said during the nearly 20 years working in Vancouver Harbor‚ he's seen about 3 incidents of whale spearing.
According to Delahunt‚ he believes that the whale had been struck further up north as the boat cruised from Alaska to Vancouver.
All living creatures need a means to keep cool during scorching hot weather.
