Alright let's move on to our next piece. How's 'Park' related to our next top sports story of 2012[Reporter : SJ] Question time once again! Who's the most famous baseball player named Park‚ that you can think of‚ off the top of your head[Reporter : SJ] Park Chan-ho is our next 'Park' you'll be surprised how much of an impact he had in baseball in the year 2012.
So now you have here some autographed baseballs from your own collection tell us about them.
[Reporter : SJ] Here a collection of Park Chan-ho‚ Kim Tae-kyun‚ and Lee Seung-yeop. We saw a wave of top names come to the KBO this year and these three were the top names. Of course of the three Park Chan-ho was the biggest name as he joined the league after playing in the Majors and in Japan with the Orix Buffaloes. Now at the same time because these names came to the KBO we saw a rise in attendance in the KBO with over 7 million fans coming out to the ballparks.
SJ‚ you yourself went out to some of the games this past season. How hard is to reserve tickets[Reporter : SJ] All the good seats literally sell out within the first 5 minutes. It's even worse when you're trying to get weekend tickets. It even got to the point where I got so good at my "quick mouse clicking skills" that my friends and colleagues would ask me to get tickets for them. But either way this boom all started because of our 2nd 'Park' Park Chan-ho who actually announced his retirement after the season. So I know Ji-hae you actually have his autographed baseball as well you might want to keep that as a future investment.
I sure will. When we talk about Park Chan-ho‚ we can't leave out how he's paved way for all the Koreans currently playing in the Major Leagues.
[Reporter : SJ] That's right we currently have Choo Shin-soo who's playing with the Cincinnati Reds Lee Hak-ju will be playing for Tampa Bay Rays but now thanks to Park Chan-ho who's also going to the Majors[Reporter : PROF. SONG] .
[Reporter : SJ] That's right the loveable Ryu Hyun-jin who signed with the L.A. Dodgers after the Dodgers posted 25.7 million dollars just for his negotiation rights then signed him for 6 years‚ 36 million dollars. And in fact Park Chan-ho and Ryu Hyun-jin played for the Hanwha Eagles last season and Park Chan-ho really helped him in getting ready for the move to the Majors. In fact let's take a look at the press conference with Ryu Hyun-jin after he signed with the Dodgers.
My final goal is to break Park Chan-ho's record of 1-hundred-24 wins and then coming back to Korea
[Reporter : SJ] The best part of Ryu's comments‚ I think‚ was where he apologized to Park Chan-ho because he said he was going to try to break his record of 124 wins.
Now you have here two different autographed baseballs of Ryu Hyun-jin and there's actually an interesting story behind that.
[Reporter : SJ] This one is his autograph in Korean in fact he used to sign it this way for most of this season. Until he said to himself man I'm going to go to the Majors no matter what and started signing all the baseballs in English.
So you can obviously see that he had his sights set on going to the Majors.
I'm sure there's going to be more baseball to talk about‚ with a 9th team joining the KBO in 2013 and a 10th KBO team coming in the future..
