[You-sun] Let's now get an update on the forecast with our weathercaster Lee JeeHyun‚ who's standing by at the weather center. Good afternoon JeeHyun
[JeeHyun] Good afternoon This weekend there are a lot of fun festivals going on across the nation. There are two international rock festivals‚ a magic festival in Busan‚ a tomato festival in Gangwon and more.
[You-sun] A tomato festival? That sounds like fun. Could you tell us more about it?
[JeeHyun] Of course. The event kicked off today in Hwacheon in Gangwon Province and it will continue until Sunday. It's filled with fun events‚ one of which will produce enough tomato sauce for spaghetti for 1‚000 people.
[Mark] A thousand people? I wonder how many tomatoes they will use for that.
Now‚ I don't know if you know‚ but tomatoes are one of the world's superfoods‚ so that should make the event healthy as well as fun. So JeeHyun‚ will the weather be nice for visitors?
[JeeHyun] Well‚ Hwacheon is expected to receive a bit of rain on and off over the weekend and temperatures will hover in the upper 20s‚ so weather shouldn't keep you from the festival there.
Now‚ today‚ the rest of the country will receive passing showers throughout the day. But some of the inland regions could get up to 70 millimeters of rain‚ especially in the mountains. That means water levels in the valleys could rise quickly‚ so be careful if you are there.
We have rain on tap for Saturday‚ with low clouds sticking around in Seoul and the surrounding area. The rain will let up before noon‚ but it should be back on Sunday and will linger until early next week.
Down south‚ it will be mostly hot with a few passing clouds.
Right now‚ we definitely have more clouds in the sky‚ dropping a bit of rain in some regions‚ and the the humidity this afternoon will be 85 percent on average.
And now‚ it's time to take a look at today's readings
Seoul and Gwangju will get up to 31 and 32 degrees Celsius‚ while Busan gets up to 29 degrees.
Now moving over to other places around the country
Nothing but sunshine with passing clouds in Jeju at 33‚ while Dokdo and Mount Geumgang will climb up to 25.
