Hello You-sun and good afternoon. It’s been shorts and t- shirt weather for four consecutive days and the weather we're having is typical of early July.
Yesterday‚ we even reached a record setting high of 26.7 degrees in the capital.
[You-sun] It’s actually hot outside these days.
I had to drive with my A/C on yesterday.
[Mark] It sure does feel like summer‚ and as it’s Parent's Day today here in Korea‚ the weather is perfect for spending time outdoors with family and friends.
Parents' Day is certainly a very special time in Korea People give carnations to their parents‚ so make sure you have some for yours.
And if you have evening plans with your parents‚ make sure to take a light jacket with you because the temperature difference can be as much as 10 to 20 degrees between day and night.
Now‚ as we go into the afternoon today‚ skies are clearing up and temperatures will get up into the 20s.
But the air in the southern provinces is extremely dry‚ with dry air advisories issued in the area‚ so make sure to drink lots of water and stay hydrated.
Now‚ tomorrow will also be warm and sunny in the morning.
There's some rain in the forecast in the southern provinces for the afternoon‚ which will bring temperatures down a bit‚ and that looks like it will continue into Friday nationwide.
Moving over to our satellite map
We have a high pressure system situated over the east coast‚ providing us with clear blue skies across the nation‚ but there are lots of clouds lingering over Jeju Island.
Finally‚ checking out on today’s readings
Seoul will rise up to 25 degrees in the afternoon.
Daegu and Gwangju will both jump up to 27‚ while Busan makes it to 22.
Over on Jeju Island‚ it will be cloudy throughout the day.
Daejeon hits 28 and Mount Geumgang tops out at 20.
