[Reporter : Debbie ed:paul] Hello Jihae. I've got some fun stories lined up for you today‚ where we get to travel around the globe and into outerspace!
First‚ we'll go over to China to check out two brothers‚ who make music with vegetable instruments. Then we'll stop by Peru‚ to find out why some people are riding their bicycles in the nude. And finally‚ we'll end up in space‚ to see which popular video game has gone intergalactic
With that being said‚ here's the first story.
Chinese brothers Nan Weidong and Nan Weiping can play anything from Chinese classical music to western folk songs on musical instruments made entirely from vegetables. The Nan brothers grew up on a farm‚ surrounded by vegetables. And their father‚ a music teacher‚ encouraged them to learn conventional instruments from a young age.
The idea of playing music with vegetables came to them only 2 years ago‚ but fascinated them ever since. Once in the brothers' hands‚ a sweet potato becomes an ocarina‚ a bamboo shoot becomes a flute‚ and a yam‚ a whistle.
Using these vegetable instruments‚ the Nan brothers perform on numerous talent shows in China. And although each show requires making a fresh new set of instruments‚ the brothers say they will go on‚ creating ever more elaborate vegetable instruments to play an even wider range of music.
