The registration period for individuals hoping to run in next year's general elections began today.
According to the National Election Commission‚ preliminary candidates looking to run in the 19th general elections‚ scheduled for April 11th of next year‚ can register starting from today until March 21st.
The commission says‚ registered preliminary candidates will be allowed to begin campaigning through‚ e-mail‚ SNS‚ and phone‚ as well as by handing out their name cards and posting leaflets.
As of this evening‚ former spokeswoman of the presidential office Kim Hee-jung registered as a ruling Grand National Party candidate in Busan.
And for the main opposition Democratic Party‚ incumbent lawmaker Cho Kyung-tae also registered in Busan.
