Powerful winds of up to 160 kilometers an hour continued to batter Los Angeles‚ Las Vegas and other southwestern US locales Thursday downing trees‚ delaying flights and leaving thousands of homes without power.
As of Thursday afternoon‚ local time‚ more than 250-thousand households were without electricity and Los Angeles International Airport experienced a partial power outage and significant delays while 20 domestic and three international inbound flights were diverted.
The National Weather Service has issued high-wind warnings for large stretches of southwestern and eastern California‚ as well as much of Nevada and parts of Utah.
Police and firefighters in the area are operating under emergency mode and recommend residents to stay indoors as much as possible.
