President Lee Myung-bak invited the speakers of some 200 local legislatures to the Presidential Office and told them the government is doing its utmost to stabilize rising prices‚ create jobs‚ and revive the economy.
During an hour and a half lunch meeting on Tuesday‚ President Lee predicted that the country's inflation will be around four percent this year a full point higher than the government's goal of three percent.
He also stressed the significance of promoting job creation‚ describing it as the best welfare policy of all.
The Korean leader added that he doubts whether local legislators need party affiliations‚ saying that local councils should focus on how to best serve the people and not on personal gain.
