The Korean government is set to crack down on illegal business conduct among local oil distributors.
The Ministry of Knowledge Economy announced on Monday that if domestic refiners are found not to be providing a reliable oil supply the government will enforce stricter laws to adjust their export volume and increase production.
The ministry said it will operate special task force teams to look for those selling at higher prices than the market rate‚ or hoarding oil products.
The ministry added those committing such crimes could have their business license cancelled‚ face up to three years in jail‚ or pay a fine of around 90-thousand US dollars.
