Currently spring napa cabbage prices hover around 1‚200 won‚ a 500 won drop from last month.
Considering napa cabbage prices skyrocketed to 12-thousand won last fall due to supply shortages‚ this is just one-tenth of the price back then.
Experts say this is caused by over-harvesting‚ since farmers panicked and planted more cabbages in response to the shortage.
[Interview : Seo Dae-suk‚ Korea Rural Economic Institute] "First‚ the overall farming area has increased‚ and the climate conditions were very favorable‚ especially the amount of sunlight. But an overall rise in production is the biggest reason."
Meanwhile‚ the government announced an action plan last month to stabilize supply and Nonghyup continues to make mass purchases of napa cabbages.
