North Korea has moved one step closer to modernizing it's general communication infrastructure by opening a 3G mobile network.
Citing a government source in Pyeongyang ‚ Japan's Kyodo news agency reports that North Korea has a new nationwide communication network connected by fiber optic cables.
The infrastructure provides the North with 3G mobile phone and broadband services‚ allowing large data transmissions for use in medical care services located in remote parts of the country.
North Korea has been working with Egypt's mobile operator Orascom Telecom to set up the new network.
