Political parties in Korea are seeking high-profile figures for the by-elections set for April 27th.
And the most heated race is expected for the gubernatorial post in Gangwon Province with two former MBC chiefs likely facing off against each other.
Many observers say former MBC chief Uhm Gi-yeong who joined the ruling Grand National Party today and main opposition Democratic Party's Choi Moon-soon who tendered his resignation last week to run in the election are likely to compete in the campaign if they win in their party nominations.
The post has been vacant since the former governor lost the seat since he was found to have received cash from a businessman.
One governorship‚ two parliamentary seats and several mayor positions are up for grabs.
