President Lee Myung-bak is to embark on a three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates next Saturday to boost Korea's strategic partnership with one of the most-developed economies in West Asia.
During his trip‚ which is at the invitation of the country's leader Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahayan‚ President Lee is expected to hold a summit discussing ways to expand cooperation in a wide range of areas‚ including the economy‚ energy‚ construction and the environment.
President Lee will ink memorandums of understanding on promoting collaboration in health and medicine as well as the Global Green Growth Institute.
The Korean leader will also take part in a groundbreaking ceremony for a nuclear plant being built by a Korean-led consortium in Braka‚ some 270 kilometers west of UAE capital Abu Dhabi.
His visit follows one made in December 2009 when he helped a Korean consortium win a 40-billion-US-dollar contract to build nuclear power plants‚ paving the way for Korea to become a major energy facility exporter.
