An airborne early warning and control system‚ otherwise known as AWACS is expected to be dispatched to South Korea in July.
US Defense magazine Defense News reported Wednesdaythat the first of four Boeing 737 airborne early warning and control systems will be deployed to the nation's air force by the cited month.
A US Defense Acquisition Program Administration official saysthat the testing period of the control systems ended last June.
Seoul's Defense Ministry spent 1.6 billion US dollars on four AWACS aircraft in 2006.
According to the magazine the aircraft will enable the South Korean air force to watch the over the nation's skies without any downtime.
