The Korea National Oil Corporation has announced that the international price of Dubai crude oil is rising at a much faster rate this year than it did in 2008.
The state-run company said Monday that the international price for Dubai crude rose from 90 US dollars a barrel in mid-December 2010 to more than 110 US dollars last Thursday.
One of the reasons for the sharp increase is the on-going civil unrest in Libya and the wave of anti-government protests spreading across the Middle East.
Libya is the world's 8th biggest oil supplier and the unrest there is having a significant impact on the international price of oil.
Experts project that high oil prices will continue as long as there is unstability in the oil-rich regions of the world.
