Despite hardships that North Korea is currently facing analysts see no signs of North Korea relaxing its political grip.
The New York Times reported on Sunday that North Korea is suffering from a severe shortage of food amid a bitter winter along with an epidemic of foot and mouth disease which has infected more that 10-thousand cows and pigs.
However‚ the report cited a number of North Korea experts who said even in the face of such hardships they see no "existential threat" to North Korean leader Kim Jong-il‚ whether through civil unrest or a military revolt.
Analysts also added that they see no signs of economic hardships pointing toward political instability and that they don't expect Pyeongyang to loosen its political grip or open up its economy.
