A horse exhibition kicked off Friday at the Seoul Racecourse Park in Gwacheon‚ Gyeonggi Province.
The Horse Industry Expo is the first of its kind in the country as the Korea Racing Authority aims to stimulate more horse riding events and other horse-related businesses.

Riding Promotion Team‚ KRA] "The event is to give those in the horse industry an opportunity to do business and exchange information. For the general public‚ it is a great chance for them to learn more about the industry outside of horse racing."
Horses at the exhibition ranged from a giant horse weighing nearly one ton to a miniature horse which looks like a small filly even though it is fully grown.
Representatives of the horse industry as well as the general public came down to the event‚ despite the chilly weather‚ to have a look around.
[Interview : Lee Kyung-a‚ Seoul resident] "Not so many people are taking part in horse riding. So‚ I hope to promote the sport through this event."
An auction for riding horses was also held for the first time in Korea.
Selling and buying these horses had been done privately in the past‚ but the KRA is trying to encourage more active horse transactions.
A total of 26 horses were on sale with people eagerly examining which one they were going to take home with them.
Performances also took place to entertain the audience from jumping on and off the horses to shooting an arrow on horseback.
