Cheonggukjang‚ or thick soybean paste‚ is made by fermenting boiled soy beans. It helps digestion and is known to prevent cancer‚ but many people cannot eat it because of its smell.

] "When we ferment the soybeans‚ we make sure to maintain the optimal temperature‚ humidity‚ and time so that the cheonggukjang is odorless."
Jeong Jeong-rye's cheonggukjang jam‚ which is currently being exported to Japan‚ won her the Knowledge and Economy Minister's Award last year.

] "I also have a patent for a technology that extracts the component in persimmons that creates the astringent taste. With that component‚ I have developed a natural cloth and hair dye."
Jeong has also invented a persimmon dye that utilizes tannin‚ a chemical component in persimmons‚ which changes color when it meets protein.

] "The persimmon dye doesn't sting my eyes‚ and it doesn't smell at all. The color also came out very even."
She says that her experience as a pharmacist helped her greatly in developing inventions with natural products.
Her dream is to supply her odorless cheonggukjang jam all over the world and to promote Korean food.

Lee is a housewife inventor! She is the star behind the shampoo chair‚ which has stirred up a storm in the baby product market.
[Interview : ] "The chair has four different levels to adjust the height. If the child is very young‚ the seat can be set at the highest level. The chair can be used for children up to 8 years old."
[Interview : ] "If you use the stepping board‚ which has the footprints on it‚ children who are too small to reach the sink can stand on the board when they wash their hands‚ brush their teeth‚ or wash their face."
She first created the baby shampoo chair in 2002 by coincidence.

While she was pregnant‚ Lee had found it extremely difficult to wash her first daughter's hair. So she came up with the shampoo chair.
