Visiting Bolivian President Evo Morales agreed to grant Korean companies access to developing Bolivia's much-coveted lithium starting April next year.

At a hour-long summit held Thursday morning in Seoul President Lee extended his wish to step up substantive cooperation with Bolivia in trade and investment‚ resources and development in honor of Morales' visit to Seoul the first of its kind since diplomatic ties were establish in 1965.
[Interview : South Korean President Lee Myung-bak ] "We expect the visit to Korea by President Morales will serve as an utmost opportunity for the two countries to improve the country's economy in the future."
President Morales also spoke highly of Korea's effort in using clean technology to preserve the environment at a welcoming luncheon hosted by a Korean economic organization and called for active investment in resource-abundant Bolivia.
[Interview : Evo Morales‚ Bolivian President] "Bolivia needs investment and we are looking for a partner‚ not a owner‚ who will invest in us. We wish to do what is best-suited for our underdeveloped resources and use them to the fullest."
The Bolivian President also expressed the country's willingness to establish a Korean embassy soon and issue five-year multiple-entry visas for Korean businessmen to make business activities easier.
President Lee in turn concluded an agreement underlining Korea's loan of 250 million US dollars under the Economic Development Cooperation Fund to the Latin American state from 2010 to 2014.
He also said the Korean government would positively consider Bolivia's inclusion into its Knowledge Sharing Program in 2011.
