The city of Seoul will start testing a new public bicycle rental program starting this October.
Similar to the Velib program in Paris Seoul's new system will provide residents with free bike rentals for up to an hour after which they can pay by credit card or public transportation fare card.
Bikes will be available at 43 locations in the Yeouido and Sangamdong Digital Media City areas including subway stations and bus stops.
Fees haven't been determined yet‚ but they're expected to be roughly the same as those for similar programs elsewhere in the country while a Seoul city official says to prevent theft‚ an initial registration fee will also be required.
Seoul plans to expand the program in cooperation with its twenty-five local districts based on the results of the one-year test.
