Korea is just seconds away from launching its first domestically assembled rocket the KSLV-1 into space.
Within nine minutes of lift-off the rocket's first and second stages should completely separate and the fairings which failed to properly eject during last year's launch should also separate under normal circumstances.
However‚ in order to determine whether the launch has been a success that is if the rocket was able to properly place its payload into orbit scientists will have to wait until the first contact is made with the satellite.
Science ministry officials say they will hold a briefing and announce whether the satellite was able to reach its target orbit at 6 p.m one hour after lift-off.
