This year's Seoul Open Art Fair opened its arms to hundreds of people recently welcoming not only art lovers‚ but anyone willing to dip their foot into the art world.
[Reporter : Lee Ji-yoon‚ jiyoonjlee@arirang.co.kr
] "With more than 500 artworks displayed here‚ this place has also provided a ground for artists of all ages and genres to bring new possibilities and ideas."
This year's art fair is especially meaningful considering that a special exhibition celebrating Korea's hosting of the G20 Summit this year has been created by artist Hwang Ho-sup.
From far away‚ one may be a little confused on how 20 Buddha-shaped copper nets are celebrating the Group of 20 meeting.
However‚ when looking at them up close each of them have paintings of the G20 countries' leaders inside the Buddha head sculptures.
[Interview : Hwang Ho-sup‚ Artist] "I think Buddha symbolizes Asia‚ in a way‚ so through these I wanted to show that a strong Asian country‚ Korea‚ will bring together all 20 countries into one by hosting the G20 Summit this November."

Visitors said that the "Seoul Summit Invitation" by Hwang definitely pushes the boundaries of painting‚ photography and sculpture to the point where it becomes an unprecedented art form.
[Interview : Jun Ae‚ Visitor
Korea] "This is my first time seeing such an exhibition. It's fascinating how the artist blended a political theme into art. I really like it."
Aside from the sculptures of 20 world leaders other corners were filled with curious minds.
A booth made up of artworks from some six different young artists was also on display.
[Interview : Gwak Choong-sung‚ Visitor
Korea] "I think young artists are capable of reinterpreting many things differently and because of this‚ they will open up a new world of possibilities and future for the more senior artists."
With endless rows of creative works‚ some sections grabbed people's attention straight away with bright lights or with moving pictures.
Many of the participating artists also add that such art fairs are a good opportunity to appreciate and respect each other's works‚ while sharing different ideas and gaining new perspective.
[Interview : Moon Joo-ho‚ Artist] "Open art fairs are better for actively exchanging ideas and for people to learn more about art as well as to compare different artworks for purchasing purposes."
Art lovers say that whether one uses old fashioned paintbrushes or goes digital with Photoshop‚ it doesn't matter how the artwork is created since anyone with a creative mind can produce a beautiful work of art.
