In the midst of the Toyota recall debacle a man serving eight years in prison for a crash with his 1996 Toyota Camry that killed three people is claiming that the accident was the result of his car's sudden acceleration problem.
According to USA Today the man who was convicted of vehicular manslaughter in 2006 is now seeking a new trial in light of Toyota's recent avalanch of recalls.
Three jurors who had helped to convict him spoke to news outlets this week saying that if they had known of the vehicle's possible defects‚ their verdict would have been different.
Although the car in question was not equipped with electronic throttle controls which have been at the center of Toyota's acceleration issues more than 5-thousand 1996 Camry models were recalled for acceleration issues shortly after the release of the new models.
