Asia is set to step up its presence in the global economy during this "crucial" year of recovery with dynamic markets and an export-oriented economic system.
This is according to the International Monetary Fund's managing director Dominique Strauss-Kahn who said on Wednesday at a financial forum in Hong Kong that Asia is leading the world in the economic recovery from the global recession.

Managing Director of IMF] "Being most important topic of this morning which is Asia's role in the new economic order the transformation has been huge and the share of Asia in the global economy has raised a lot."
Strauss-Kahn added that global economic growth will likely exceed the IMF's projected rate of 3.1 percent in 2010 and that Asian economic growth excluding Japan will reach about 7 percent this year.
However he says the continent must implement better forms of capital control along with other measures in order to prevent the creation of economic bubbles especially as huge amounts of speculative money flood into the region.
Meanwhile the U.N.'s economic experts are issuing warnings saying the recovery is uneven and conditions for sustained growth remain fragile.
A 176-page report on economic prospects for 2010 says the sustained economic revival can largely be attributed to massive stimulus measures including expansionary monetary policies which have poured huge amounts of money into the world economy since late 2008.
The report stresses that a premature exit from stimulus measures could cause a double-dip recession.
