We now dedicate the rest of our program to learning about the brand new year 2010.
To most people every January first is a day to remind themselves of what they want to achieve in the new year and start their new year's resolution.
Yes‚ and many people gather at places where they can best see the sunrise to pray for their hopes and wishes for the new year.
And our Kim Nari joins us at Arirang Today's first edition in 2010 to tell us all about where to see the sunrise and what are some hopes for the new year.

Do you have any new year's resolutions‚ wishes or goals you want to achieve this year A new sunrise symbolizes a new year.
On the first day of every year people find themselves in a place where they can watch the bright and round sun appearing above the horizen.
The beach is one of the most popular venues for people to observe the sun.
People get up extra early to witness the very first daybreak of the year and to make a wish as it rises.

One of the best locations to see the sunrise Homigot is located at the very Eastern tip of north Gyeongsang Province or at the tail of the tiger as the Korean peninsula is shaped like one.

narikim@arirang.co.kr] "This is the place to be to watch the first sunrise of the year in Korea. But it is also popular for its unique sculptures. The sculpture behind is called the Hand of Harmony‚ and it signifys the new years sunrise."
The hand sculpture in the ocean is the most impressive at sunrise when the light shines on it.
When the long awaited sun finally appears through the fingers of the sculpture people also see hope.
[Interview : Moon Sun-young] "I think next year will be great. Yesterday was our 10th year wedding anniversary‚ so I prayed for a continued happy relationship."
[Interview : Yoon Jeong-gi‚ Seo Ji-yeong‚ Visitor] "I wished for happiness and good health for my family‚ including my son‚ who will be born in next year."
[Interview : Moon Byeong-ho‚ Visitor] "I looked at my daughter‚ and then at the sunrise‚ and I promised myself that I will work hard in 2010."
Chotdaebawi along the eastern beach is another popular place to enjoy the magnificent beauty of the sun slowly peeking its way over the edge of the beautifully formed rock towers.
Even way before the break of day a small harbor is already bustling exuding an energetic and live atmosphere.
The fishing boats are returning from the ocean and fish vendors are striving to get the freshly caught seafood for a good price.
[Interview : Jeong Soon-gwang‚ Fisherman] "I wish for the fishing industry to prosper‚ both for those who catch as well as those who sell fish. My family's health is my top priority‚ and I hope my son‚ who is in the army‚ will come back home safely when he is done with his service. Woo-jin‚ I love you so much."
