요약정보
President Lee Myung-bak and the visiting Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping met at the Presidential Office in Seoul on Thursday.
The breakfast meeting took place right before the President flew out to Copenhagen for the UN climate change summit and Mr. Xi thanked President Lee for making time which he believes shows the significance of the Seoul-Beijing ties.
A foreign ministry official in Seoul said earlier that Xi's visit to Korea means that Korea is building a relationship with the future leadership of China.
The two vowed to take their 17-year-old diplomatic relations to the next level in economy‚ security and culture‚ among many others.
Regarding trade‚ the Chinese vice president expressed hope for Korea and China to resume official negotiations of their free trade agreement.
The two leaders also pledged to work together in making the G20 summit next year a success and tackling climate change.
That issue along with the ongoing UN Climate Change Summit took centerstage as Xi Jinping called on advanced countries to transfer the necessary capital and technology to help developing countries join efforts to cut carbon emissions and still achieve economic growth.
The Korean president said it may not be possible for developed and developing countries to reach an agreement this time in Copenhagen but he certainly hopes it will be the starting point of renewed cooperation to fight global warming.

President Lee Myung-bak said 2010 can be a watershed year in solving North Korea's nuclear impasse and asked for China's greater role in the nuclear saga.
