[Reporter : ] That's right‚ Minji.
I was at a special concert on Sunday that was being held for the minority population who rarely have the chance to enjoy art and music because of social‚ regional or economical issues.
The performances ranged from rock music to traditional Korean folk music.
And the artists participating in this event will be travelling to various regions in Korea until December 27th to share their gift of music.
Preparations were under way for the first of six Heemangnaneum concerts at the Seoul Guro Arts Valley Theater this past Sunday afternoon.
Organizing staff checked everything lights‚ sound‚ and the condition of the participating musicians hoping to present a perfect and memorable concert to their audience.
Staying true to the name Heemangnaneum which means "sharing hope" in Korean the event is being co-organized by the Ministry of Culture‚ Sports and Tourism and the Arts Council Korea for a certain segment of the Korean population that is often at a social disadvantage who are seldom permitted to enjoy the luxuries of art and music.

] "This concert invites a minority population in Korea to enjoy a night of music and artistic performances. We are hoping to present a concert full of love that will comfort and encourage our audience."
The artists performing in this series of concerts will be traveling to six different regions starting with Seoul with the final destination being 춘천..
They say that despite their busy schedule they were more than happy to be a part of this philanthropic event and to be able to deliver a message of hope to the audience.
[Interview : Kang San-eh‚ Singer] "There are many children who are unable to enjoy popular culture‚ for regional and social reasons‚ throughout the country. I liked the overall idea of the concert‚ because I will be visiting these children myself. That's why I am participating."
Aside from professional artists local residents are also to be invited on stage‚ to show off their musical skills.
Pham Hung Phuong and Nguyen Thi Thu who came to Korea three years ago were given the chance to introduce Vietnamese music to an audience in Korea.
They hope that their performance can help connect Koreans with Vietnamese culture and contribute to the strengthening of friendly ties between the two nations.
[Interview : Pham Hung Phuong‚ Participant] "I am from Vietnam‚ so I should sing a Vietnamese song. I could sing a Korean song‚ but I want to introduce Vietnamese music to help build friendship between Korea and Vietnam."
While the event was organized for a specific segment of the population comprised largely of foreign workers‚ multicultural families‚ people with disabilities‚ the terminally ill and the old who are often neglected or shunned by Korean society local residents were also invited to enjoy the performances.
Despite the cold weather the theatre was packed with families and those who could not get tickets ahead of the concert were lined up at the door.
[Interview : Choi Su-jeong‚ Guro Resident] "I wanted to come even more after hearing that this was a charity concert. It's so cold outside‚ but I'm enjoying myself and the children are having fun as well."
Organizers and participating artists of the Heemangnaneum Concert which will run until the end of December hope to warm the hearts of their audiences despite the cold winter weather.
