Korea's Ministry of Justice announced Monday that it plans to present a revised bill that will require all visiting foreigners to register their fingerprints and perhaps even submit other biological data for identification upon entry into Korea.
The head of Korea's immigration office stated that such a bill has been put together in response to an increase in crimes committed by foreigners as well as to prevent the illegal entry of foreigners into the country.
The bill says that starting in July of 2012 foreigners who are 17 years or older including tourists and short-term visitors will be asked to register their fingerprints and get their photos taken before entering the country. .. with the exception of foreigners visiting Korea with diplomatic credentials or who are here on public business.
