This Tuesday marks the third anniversary of the implementation of a bilateral trade pact between Korea and EFTA‚ short for the European Free Trade Association‚ comprising of Iceland‚ Liechtenstein‚ Norway and Switzerland.
And the Ministry of Strategy and Finance says the Korea-EFTA free trade agreement being Korea's first FTA with European economies has doubled trade between the two sides to over 6.2 billion US dollars during the past year compared to the year before the trade pact took effect.
Korea's exports increased by a larger margin than imports from EFTA nations with exports of Korean ships and cars and imports including machinery and medical products from the European countries posting the highest increases.
