President Lee Myung-bak met with United States president Barack Obama at the White House on Tuesday.
The summit lasted for about 50 minutes after which the two leaders announed a blueprint for their future ties titled "the Joint Vision for the Alliance of the Republic of Korea and the United States of America."
With this document Seoul and Washington officially reaffirmed continuing their unwavering ties with strategic cooperations at every level but especially focusing on their united front against North Korea's provocations.

President Obama reaffirmed US's commitment for the security of South Korea by providing all measures‚ such as 'extended deterrence'‚ including a nuclear umbrella."
This means that Seoul and Washington will lead the way to strengthen collaborations among the five members of the stalled six party nuclear talks without North Korea for Now.
This is in line with President Lee's suggestion at an interview with the Wall Street Journal last week that Seoul‚ Washington‚ Beijing‚ Tokyo and Moscow should first come up with a new denuclearization plan before resuming negotiations with the North.

The message we're sending‚ and when I say we‚ not simply the United States and the Republic of Korea‚ but I think the international community is we're going to break that pattern."
Seoul's Presidential Office says that the summit also stressed on the broader international collaboration to teach Pyeongyang that it cannot be rewarded this time with its rogue acts and there will be consequences for its provocations.
The joint vision also specified that Washington will continue providing its 'extended deterrence' to prevent war on the Korean peninsula.
Meaning in case of North Korean provocations with weapons of mass destruction. Washington will provide virtually any means necessary including its nuclear umbrella to retaliate at the same level it would if its own territory is under attack.
During Tuesday's summit the two leaders also agreed to continue their efforts for the overdue legislative approval of the Korea-US free trade agreement signed back in 2007.
[Reporter : kimbumsoo@arirang.co.kr] "With the Seoul-Washington summit wrapped up‚ President Lee held meetings with the leaders from the US House of Representatives and the Senate.
While discussing the results of the summit President Lee called for congressional support to approve the Korea-US free trade deal.
